Bay Area residents can make a clean air choice and save money too! The Bay Area Air Quality Management District is offering rebates when you purchase a gas stove or gas insert. Switching from burning wood to using gas will reduce air pollution and improve air quality in your neighborhood. Gas log sets are not eligible for the rebate.

Program Timeline and Required Documentation

November 18, 2008, 2:00 pm PST - Wood Smoke Reduction Rebate Program opens.
Step 1   Obtain a Reservation Number. Applicants can apply online for a reservation number. Residents without internet access may call 415-749-4999 for assistance with the reservation process.
Step 2 Within 30 days of the Application Form being sent by the Air District Return a signed and completed Application Form along with required documentation to the Air District to receive approval of qualifying device and to confirm your Reservation for a Rebate. Required documentation will include a copy of the purchase receipt for the gas stove or gas inert and a copy of the utility bill establishing your residency in the Air District. Approved Application Forms will be sent an Installation Form.
Step 3 Within 70 days of the Installation Form being sent by the Air District Return a signed and completed Installation Form along with required documentation to the Air District. Required documentation will include a receipt showing proof of installation, a photograph of the installed device and if replacing a wood stove or insert, a scrappage receipt confirming the device was taken to a recycling center for disposal.
The Air District will send reimbursement within 90 days from the date Rebate Installation Form is received.

Program Rules

  1. Reservation numbers for Rebates are issued on a first come, first served basis.
  2. In order to be eligible for a $200 rebate you must first obtain a reservation number. A reservation number will reserve your $200 rebate, so long as you comply with the program requirements below.
  3. Gas Stove or Gas Insert must be purchased on or after the November 18, 2008 program start date. Devices purchased prior to the November 18, 2008 are not eligible for the rebate.
  4. Gas Stove or Gas Insert may not be installed until after the applicant receives the Installation Form from the Air District, certifying the device purchased meets the rebate program guidelines. The Air District will review documentation and confirm documentation meets program guidelines.
  5. Gas Stoves/Gas Inserts must be installed by a licensed contractor.
  6. Failure to submit required documentation on time will forfeit rebate.
  7. Acceptance of this offer requires agreement to allow the Air District to inspect the home where the device is installed to verify compliance with program Terms and Conditions.
  8. Offer is available only to households located in the Bay Area Air Quality Management District's (Air District) jurisdiction.
  9. One Rebate per household.
